YOUNG athletes from two of our local clubs, Hyndburn AC and Blackburn Harriers, were at Stanley Park in Blackpool for the Quadkids competition which was staged exclusively for athletes under the age of 11.
Everyone took part in the same four events – 75 metre sprint, long jump, 600 metres and the vortex throw – with performances being converted to points to find the overall winners.
Hyndburn’s Alex Haworth was the Year 3 Boys’ winner and Eden Burt was the Year 5 Girls’ champion while Connor Johnston and Dominic Rutter were second and third Year 6 Boys, Amy Baby was third Year 3 Girl and Taomi Liddiard was the runner up in the Year 6 Girls’ section.
Blackburn had three second places, Emily Rane and Maddie Elliot for the Year 3 and Year 5 Girls and Billy Walpole and Jack Fairbanks took second and third in the Year 4 Boys’ section.
