A non-league football club is hosting an event with a Burnley FC legend to help raise money for the club.

Colne FC will be joined by former Clarets winger Glen Little this Friday (February 24) to discuss his time in football as well as “the side of football that we don’t get to see.”

Little made 283 appearances for Burnley between 1996 and 2004 and was part of the side that secured promotion to the second tier in the 1999/00 season.

After leaving the Clarets, he went on to play for Reading, Portsmouth, Sheffield United and Aldershot Town in the Football League before dropping into non-league.

Colne have been doing extra events recently, such as quiz nights, in a bid to raise cash during what is a difficult time for non-league clubs.

A club spokesperson said: “As a non-league club we can’t rely on matchday income alone, especially with increased costs in electricity, and with Covid.

“The last chairman left us in dire financial straits so we’re having to think outside the box and raise funds in other ways.

“We’ve had new chairmen come in, we’ve got co-chairmen at the moment in Glenn Stock and Darren Harrison. They’ve got a few contacts so we’ve managed to pull in Glen Little for this Friday, which is absolutely brilliant.”
