After a good first half of the season Chorley started the new year against table toppers Aspull who earlier in the season thrashed Chorley and who have only lost once all season.

Chorley started well with the pack in awesome mood, with countless scrums won against the head with returning prop Johnny Guest and Chris Reed destroyed their opposite numbers.

Aspull obviously thought after there last encounter with Chorley that this would be a walkover, but no - this is a better organised Chorley team who don't have a defeatist mentality and play for each other.

With Aspull ratteled and arguing among each other, stand off Matt Bates kept kicking the penalties and kicking for position that added to Aspull's anger.

Ealry in the second half Ste Goodman scored a try but the referee was unsighted so couldn't award it, and a mistake at the back of the scrum then let in Aspull for a undeserved score.

With the Chorley pack controlling the game and Richard Hampson putting in some shattering tackles in the middle, somehow Aspull scored again and converted to even it up. Hooker Jeff Upton went in at the corner but was disallowed for a forward pass and Aspull hung on for a undeserved draw.
