After last week's loss to Rossendale, Chorley needed a good win today to keep the pressure on the top two on the hard ground and brisk air.

Chorley started well with the Chorley lineouts in dominant form.

Then, from the base of the scrum, Simon Heaton sniped in to score.

With the forwards in dominant form Steve Goodman ran in to score, Chorley took their foot of the gas against the run of play Kirkby scored with a rolling maul, that gave Chorley the kick they needed with a great run from Richard Hampson and Ste Handsford.

Simon Heaton ran into score his second and, after half-time, Chorley once again controlled the scrums and lineouts leading to Steve Goodman to score again.

As Chorley fell asleep for ten minutes Kirkby score two quick tries which angered the Chorley lads into action.

Firstly Chris Turner sprinted in after great work from Phil Callander and Marcus Quick, then Steve Goodman ran into score his hat trick after a full length of the pitch run from Matt Bates.

Chorley captain Phil Callander said: "It was a difficult away fixture in very hard conditions, but we are fourth now and five points off second, a great end to the year and another great performance from the in form team in the league, bring on Aspull on January 5."
