Neil Warnock has revealed Dael Fry is recovering well from the facial injury he sustained against Rovers.

The Boro boss was left furious at the officials, and also Rovers defender Jarrad Branthwaite, for the incident which saw the defender taken off with a cut below his eye.

Fry revealed the extent of the damage in a picture posted after the match, but Warnock hasn’t ruled the 23-year-old out of tomorrow’s game with Rotherham United.

The defender has started 21 times for Boro this season, coming off the bench in another two, and Warnock says the swelling caused by the collision is going down.

Fry was caught in the face by Branthwaite's high boot, though the incident went unpunished by referee Dean Whitestone.

Warnock said at this morning’s press conference: "Dael's face isn't great, as you can imagine.

"But the swelling is definitely going down, we'll see how he is. We won't risk him if he isn't right.

“It wasn’t nice, but he’s a big, strong lad. I don’t know what else I can say about it, to be honest.”

Marcus Tavernier also came off against Rovers in the second half with an injury which Warnock put down to the Riverside surface.

He added: "It’s another slip on the grass. The pitch is not very good at all - and it won’t be for the rest of the season. Everybody’s slipping on it all the time, and it was another slip.”
