Rovers boss Tony Mowbray hailed the club’s recruitment department for uncovering Belgian goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski.

The ‘keeper made it back-to-back clean sheets away from home as Rovers followed up the 2-0 win at Birmingham City with a 1-0 victory at the Riverside on Sunday.

Kaminski has impressed since his summer move from AA Gent, his presence and calmness key qualities behind what has been a much-changed backline.

He made a terrific save to deny Britt Assombalonga moments before Joe Rothwell’s winner at Middlesbrough as Rovers climbed to ninth in the table.

Twice called-up to the Belgium squad since his arrival at Ewood Park, Mowbray credited the club’s recruitment department for sourcing the 28-year-old whose six-figure transfer fee is looking something of a bargain.

“What I do know is that we’ve got a top class goalie and I mean top class,” Mowbray said.

“He’s a brilliant human being, he’s the calmest man in the building and I’m delighted that the recruitment department managed to sign him for this football club because he’s a joy to work with everyday and when he makes important saves, it doesn’t surprise me because I know his quality.

Darragh Lenihan was Sky Sports’ man of the match against Boro as Rovers held out for a clean sheet and three points, but the Irishman was keen to share the praise with the ‘keeper, not least for the save that kept the scores level early in the second half.

It was a seventh clean sheet for Kaminski, and eighth for Rovers this season, and Lenihan told the club website: “The save from Thomas before the goal was massive for us.

“Since he’s been at the club he’s been extremely impressive, he’s a big voice behind the back four and has made a lot of outstanding saves that have kept us in games.

“We all worked hard and did the right things for the team to get the job done.”
