Rovers have received the ‘LG performance of the week’ award for their emphatic 5-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.
The League Managers Association’s panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chris Hughton, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, decided Rovers’ emphatic victory at Hillsborough was worthy of winning the weekly prize.
Lewis Holtby scored twice to put Rovers 3-0 up at the break, with Darragh Lenihan and Sam Gallagher netting in the second half as Tony Mowbray’s side put the 10-men Owls to the sword.
The win was Rovers’ biggest victory on the road in 56 years, since a 5-0 away win over Bolton Wanderers in February 1964.
