CHORLEY Athletic and Triathlon Club are celebrating after impressive results by their competitors at the weekend.

The club sent a team of 19 runners to compete at Pontefract Park for the annual competition.

The Under 15 girls competed at the North of England Cross Country Championships taking second-placed team.

The team of Olivia Leigh, Gabby Hodson, Katie Mathison, Maisie Burns produced some great individual results across the age groups.

Also Logan who trains at Chorley but is also part of Southport club took a bronze medal individually.

Coach Katie Hewison was impressed by the efforts of the U15s girls.

She said: “I am really proud of them and I know they have worked hard to get where they are.

“They are always giving 150 per cent and it has been a long term ambition for the club to develop the young runners.

“We want them to continue to move through the age-groups and impress.

“The development plans are really coming together now.”

Also in action were the U13s girls including Libby Rickerby and Megan Leigh.

The U13s boys foursome of Jack Lamb, Tom Murphy, Joe Marzolini and Lewis-Warner-Jones completed the first ever u/13s team finish for Chorley.

Meanwhile the U15s boys side of Daniel Lilley, Jack Hughes, Josh Geary, Joseph Chadwick and Joseph Mitchell were another first time team to finish and were seventh

Finty Royle and Bethany Reid were in action in U17 girls.

While coach Katie Hewison also was in action.

She said: “It is really infectious working with the girls as they are really doing well.

“But it is not just the U15s girls who are impressing as the other juniors are developing.

“Some of them are going to be competing in the English Schools qualifiers.”
