SIX females from Chorley represented Lancashire at the prestigious Inter County Cross Championships in Loughborough on Saturday 10th March.

Competing against the best runners from all the counties across the U.K., in very tough muddy conditions, meant for some challenging races for the girls.

The team were led home by Chorley Athletic and Triathlon coach, Katie Hewison in 10th place in the Senior Women’s race.

Next off was Finty Royle in the U17 women’s race who finished a very credible 61st place after missing recent training with an injury.

Liberty Bryan was debuting her first outing for Lancashire in the U20 women’s race and finished in 154th place.

The U15 girls were led home by Olivia Leigh in 148th, backed up by team mate Bethany Reid in 260th place respectively.

Maisie Burns, also competing for the first time for Lancashire, finished in 71st place in the U13 girls race to top of an excellent day for the Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club athletes.

Elsewhere, there was a dedicated turnout at the Abbey Villages Multi Terrain Roddlesworth Roller race.

With a turnout of 266 runners taking part and the eventual winner certainly making light work of the hills finishing in at a time of 33 minutes 19 seconds the club had lead runner Robert Walsh, then Dominic Raby and Ian Leigh all topping the top 20 list.

First back for Chorley was Robert Walsh 35.54 (9th) followed by Dom Raby 36.33(13th), Ian Leigh 38.07 (20th), Jon Linford 39.32 (28th), Nick Gkikas 41.00 (36th), Robert Morgan 41.58 (44th), Bill Beckett 45.10 (75th), Ben Gilkes 45.23 (78th) with Liberty Bryan 47.15 1st Chorley Lady (93rd), Debbie Leigh 48.16 (101st) Richard Holding 49.15 (113th), Paul Jackson 52.11 (143rd), Michael Wilson 52.22 (144th), Liam Rushton 54.12 (159th), Stephen Fletcher 58.30 (205th) with Adrian Smith 1.18.20 (264th) rounding up all of the club’s athletes.A couple of prizes came Chorley’s way with Robert Walsh 1st V40 and also Robert Walsh, Dom Raby and Ian Leigh taking the male team prize.
