CHORLEY FC manager Matt Jansen was ‘over the moon’ after his side’s impressive 2-0 win against York City.

It was the Magpies second win and they are looking to use it as a platform to kickstart their season.

Jansen said: “It was fantastic,we had a game-plan and stuck to it.

“We said from the start at Brackley that we wanted to get back to how we played last season and we did that against Brackley and kept a clean sheet. We could have probably nicked it at the end. “We took on Bradford Park Avenue and they were wasting time but kept another clean sheet.

“The happiest thing for me today was that we kept another clean sheet but we were also more adventurous.

“We did not play with a holding midfielder as we had a number 10 in Nick Haughton who has joined us from Fleetwood and he was outstanding and created lots of chances for us and we won 2-0 against a strong side in York City.

“They are a strong side and started the season reasonably well but to come here and for us to put on a performance like we did was outstanding.

“I am over the moon with three clean sheets in as many games.”

Jansen was impressed with how the players performed.

He said: “We have got a more attacking way of playing and a defensive way of playing but if you don’t concede goals then you don’t lose games then if you nick a goal you win.

“We have gone back to the way we were last season by being difficult to beat but also want to be a little bit attractive and exciting up-front which was missing in the last three or four games.

“We caused them endless problems.

“York are a good team got lots of ex-Football League playing for them and I am sure they will be up there in the mix for promotion but we were on top.”
