LEYLAND Warriors Under-11’s were celebrating after their first home win of the season defeating Crosfield Cobras 34-30.

They did not get it all their own way in the opening minutes the Cobras were through with a try and conversion.

But the Warriors hit back with a great try from Harry Storey.

With a real sense of determination the Warriors got stuck in and started defending superbly, talking to each other and putting all the recent training into practice.

They were formidable in attack and Stevie Bracewell-Jones dived over the try line to put the Warriors ahead and George Tildsley added a superb conversion.

The Cobras seemed to find a weakness in our defence which appeared to be at the wings and were able to score a further two tries before Robert Holden secured another score

At the end of interval, the Warriors were leading by two points 16-14.

The Warriors had fantastic team spirit shining through, with some magnificent tackles from all players but especially Luke Williams, Charlie, Rob and Jacques Henson.

Bracewell-Hughes found his way over the line again for his second try of the game, followed by a conversion.

Some great runs from George Davies, Stevie and Louis Traynor as they did really well at gaining that ground, throughout the game.

The Cobras got back into the game with two tries down the wing but Jacques took an opportunity and managed to scoot the ball over the line, his first try of the season with his face saying it all, he then followed this up with a conversion.

Time was ticking and the Warriors were still trailing by two points but Storey ran in a superb try where no-one could catch him and Traynor hit the ball between the posts to seal the win.

Elsewhere, the U14’s took the honours in the cup defeating Portico Vine 36-10.

The visitors Portico opened the scoring with a try before Hill created an opportunity for Hindle who raced over to score Leyland’s first points of the game and probably the try of the day.

Leyland added two more unanswered tries in the half for Parkinson to scoot over from dummy half then Farrell raced down the right to touchdown.

It was more of the same in the second half when Portico scored again then the Warriors added a further three tries to their tally with Farrell (two) and Hodson getting on the scoresheet.

Meanwhile, Tom Cooper was a hat-trick hero for the Warriors Under-9s as they won 40-32.

There were also two tries apiece for Noah Pridgeon and Richard Baldwin and a try apiece for Ethan French, Pius Whatton and William McGowan.
