CHARNOCK Richard had extra reason at the weekend to celebrate after they took home the Hallmark Security Football League (North West Counties League) Division One ‘Club Of The Month’ award for September 2016.

The Mossie Park side enjoyed a 5-1 win at Ashton Town with two goals from Danny Marland and one each from Nathan Fairhurst, Mark Adams and Danny Smith.

Andy Westwell’s side sit in fourth in the table trailing leaders City of Liverpool by two points.

Elsewhere Euxton Villa got back to winning ways after a 1-0 victory on the road against Eagley in the Premier Division of the West Lancashire League.

Barney Morris’ goal after 25 minutes was the difference between the two sides and the three points kept Mark McDonnell’s side among the early pace-setters in fourth spot — 10 points behind leaders Longridge.

In Division Two, Croston Sports Club suffered a 3-2 defeat to Fulwood Amateurs Reserves.

Matt Masterson and Nathan Nickeas were on the scoresheet for Croston as they still sit in third spot in the table.

Elsewhere, Coppull United are flying the flag in the Lancashire Amateur Shield after a five-star performance against Haslingden St Mary’s.

The Springfield Road men enjoyed a 5-1 victory to book their place in the third round despite not having it all their own way. Scott Wylie broke the deadlock for Haslingden but just before the break Lewis Grimshaw levelled things up after 40 minutes.

Lewis Pilgrim put the visitors in front on the hour mark before Coppull enjoyed a two-goal cushion when a Haslingden player put the ball into his own net. Grimshaw doubled his tally for the afternoon with eight minutes left before Scott Hendy put the icing on the cake on 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, Leyland United continued their impressive start to the season by seeing off Atherton Town thanks to a brace of goals by Byron Andrews and then another effort by Nathan Parrish in a 3-2 victory.
