A dozen Chorley Harriers were in action against the very best fell runners in the country in the 4.5 mile Paddy's Pole Fell Race near Chipping.

Nicola Raby was first home for Chorley in the Ladies Race with a good effort finishing inside the top 50 with 42.10.

Nikki Rushton prefers the longer distances but wasn't far behind for 63rd in 43.46. Janet Chaplin just got the better of Jan Atkins in 47.53 with Marie Dewhurst on their tail a few minutes later.

In the men's event Dominic Raby returned home with an excellent time of 31.49 and a fine 55th place.

John Sutton claimed 79th in 33.06, Stuart Roberts back a couple of minutes later with a time 35.21.

John Horrocks had a good run for 36.50 and ninth Under23 overall, Paul Jackson in good form finished in 39 minutes.

Steve Thomas was under pressure from club mate Pete Gilham down the steep descent at the finish, but Thomas held on to a 20 second lead with 44.09.

Also on the fells the fourth and final Bunny Run took place on Haworth Moor in West Yorkshire.

Alison Fowler finally got the better of Pete Gilham with her fastest time so far in 22.50. Gilham not far behind in 23.21 and consolidated by the prize of third placed Vet 60 over the series.

Janet Chaplin showed consistency with 24.32, meanwhile Marie Dewhurst made a great improvement with a time of 25.13 and beating Libby Daultrey by almost a minute.

Jan Atkins didn't run the final race but had already done enough to scoop first prize in the Lady Vet60 category.

Six Harriers took on the tough multi-terrain Radcliffe 10k on Sunday and John Sutton was the first black and white vest over the line for 17th place in 36.08.

Philip Iddon made the top 60 with 41.20, Steve Thomas content with 45.12 in the warm conditions.

Nikki Rushton was the only Chorley lady to compete and was home in 47.16.

Pete Gilham clocked 48.10 with Ken Williams just over a minute later.

Elsewhere, Nicola Raby was the sole Harrier on show in the Wray Scarecrow 10k near Lancaster and had a good race with 34th overall and third placed lady in 45.13.
