Nearly 40 people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in west London.

A man in his 30s was left fighting for his life after the incident in Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith, in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Metropolitan Police said 39 people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at a property near the scene and taken into custody at several police stations.

The force was called to reports of a stabbing in the street shortly before 1am.

A spokesman said: “Officers and LAS (London Ambulance Service) attended. A man, believed to be in his 30s, was found with stab injuries.

“He was treated at the scene by officers and paramedics and then taken to hospital.

“His injuries have been assessed as life-threatening.

“A total of 39 people were arrested at a property near the scene on suspicion of attempted murder. They have been taken into custody.”
