I HAVE twice recently been attacked by correspondents for views I do not hold and things I did not say.
The latest, from Mr Whittaker, left me wondering if he had read my original letter.
In it I said that I did not understand the claim, made by a previous writer, that pensioners were living it up on £400 a week. Sarcastically I said "where is this gravy train, let me on it."
Finally for Mr Whittaker's benefit, I am a pensioner myself, I did pay into a private pension and I do get the heating allowance, but my pensions don't amount to anything like £400 per week and I don't know anyone who does receive such an amount.
BRIAN GORDON, Councillor, Meadowhead.
