A police car was rammed and forced off the motorway during a pursuit of a stolen car.

Officers are now appealing for information and dashcam footage after the police vehicle was significantly damaged.

The incident happened at the end of the M55 heading into Blackpool at 12.55pm on September 19 after a stolen black Range Rover had failed to stop for officers.

After colliding with two police vehicles the stolen car continued into Blackpool.

Thankfully, none of the police officers involved were seriously injured.

The Range Rover was witnessed being driven dangerously both on the M55 eastbound carriageway and further continuing onto Progress Way. It was later found abandoned.

No arrest has been made and enquiries are ongoing.

PC Andrew Sidgreaves, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “This will have been a terrifying time for members of the public who witnessed this and it is extremely fortunate that an officer was not more seriously injured.

"Our enquiries are very much ongoing and we are now asking for the public’s help identifying the driver involved.

"We are particularly keen to get hold of any dashcam or CCTV footage from the area which would assist with our investigation.”

Anyone with information or footage is asked to email PC Sidgreaves at 1925@lancashire.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting log 0591 of September 19.
