A MEMBER of the public helped police to foil a suspected burglary in Burnley town centre last night.
The person spotted two males trying to break into a shop on Yorke Street and quickly contacted police who had just started their first night shift.
Officers were quickly on the scene and chased one of the men down the street before arresting him while the second man was found hiding in the shop.
A police spokesperson said: "Times are hard enough for local businesses struggling to make money during lockdown without people causing damage and stealing from them.
"Hopefully we can put these two before court later today."
The two males, both local aged 31 and 48, are currently in custody.
