A £350,000 makeover of the Greenside estate in Euxton is nearing completion.

Improvements include blocking up of unwanted ginnels, creating new front gardens for residents, improved street lighting and the provision of additional car parking.

The work , being undertaken by landlord Chorley Community Housing (CCH), is due to finish in early September. Last week Adactus board members and officers from CCH toured the neighbourhood along with the local county councillor.

CCH director of operations Richard Houghton said: “Even though the works are still some weeks away from being finished, the impact these works will have is obvious. What was a rather tired looking 1960s estate is already looking a whole lot better.”

Chorley North County Councillor Mark Perks who represents the area on county council said: “CCH team have worked with the council on designing an improved street lighting scheme.

“After visiting the area to see for myself, I am impressed with the additional car parking provided.I particularly like the new gardens created along the walkways, the new additional street lighting and the disabled access improvements undertaken by them.”
