A BAR worker has been fined after they served a minor with alcohol over the weekend.

Officers clamping down on underage drinking in the Ribble Valley were working alongside staff from Lancashire County Council's trading standards department on Friday night when the staff member was found to serve a minor with an alcoholic drink.

The officers had been patrolling bars and restaurants in Longridge and Ribchester at the time.

A force spokesman said: "The large majority of premises passed testing but one premises has failed the test and the supplying staff member will be dealt with by a fine issued by Lancashire Constabulary.

"All premises found to be guilty of this offence will have their licence reviewed also.

"We would encourage local residents to report any concerns over underage drinking in premises to us on 101, Lancashire Constabulary website or on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111." The clampdown on underage drinking comes just weeks after officers vowed to crackdown on drug-taking in the borough's pubs.
