THE day you become a mother is one like no other — joy and exhaustion in equal measures.

Ahead of Mothering Sunday, we asked East Lancashire mums to share photographs of that special day.

We were inundated with adorable pictures and stories about the day your lives changed forever.

Sally Robinson said: “This is the day I gave birth in the water to our beautiful son, Charlie Gary Gerrard, on July 4 2018 at Burnley General. He weighed 7lb 6oz. Here he is 21 seconds after birth with me and daddy.”

Claire Southcott, from Blackburn, said: “My gorgeous son was born nine weeks early so unfortunately the day I became a mum I didn’t get to hold him as he was taken straight to NICU. I finally got to hold him three days later.”

Jenny Savage said: “I first became a mum to my son, Luca, on August 8, 2011 at Blackburn Birth Centre in a birth pool. I became a mum to my daughter on December 1, 2013 at home on my sofa. My husband David delivered her with help from my mum and sisters.”

Nisa Kingham, from Darwen, said: "Roughest day and night of my life to date but the most beautiful result - my daughter! August 2011 I became a mum with my mother and fella (taking pic) at my side. Have you seen the bags under our eyes?"

Becca Leigh said: "I became a mummy on August 12, 2017, at 15 years old to the best little boy I could ask for - Oakley-Joshua."

Wishing all the mums in East Lancs a very happy Mother's Day 2019.
