I WRITE in response to the headline 'Fury At Masts Threat' in the Burnley Citizen, (November 24).

I would give my full support to these protesters and I would even suggest they should blockade the area when the phone engineers arrive to erect the mast and add further antennae to existing ones.

Their fears of health concerns are fully justified as now evidence comes to light every day from respected research institutes from various parts of the world.

This evidence comes from scientists who have studied the effects of electro-magnetic microwave radiation on the human brain from the constant exposure from mobile phone base masts. This type of apparatus transmits harmful emissions.

I would be willing to give evidence about my own condition due to the effects of the 3G mast phone base station that was activated a year ago at the rear of my home.

It is only 60 metres from the wall of the house with the transmitter on a level with our bedroom windows.

Every morning I wake with a headache, numbness down the right side of my face, strange sensations in my head and ringing in my ears.

I am over 65 years of age and I have had exceptionally good health up to the time the phone mast was activated and I can state quite categorically that I had none of these symptoms before that phone mast arrived.

My wife also suffers similarly and one or two of my close neighbours are also feeling effects.

Why doesn't someone ask the chairman, directors and general managers of Vodafone, T-mobile, O2, Virgin Mobile and any other operators who all claim "there is absolutely no harm whatsoever to the public from mobile phone mast emissions," to lead by example and have a mast fully transmitting, erected just 60 metres away from their homes?
