A DRIVER took his uncle's car because he claimed he owed him money for work he had done.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Paul Wilson was staying with his uncle at the time and drove off in the Ford Fiesta after he had gone to bed.

Wilson, 24, of Primrose Terrace, Darwen, admitted unauthorised taking and driving without a licence or insurance.

He received a conditional discharge for 18 months, was banned for 12 months and fined a total of £300.

Ian Huggan, defending, said Wilson drove the car the short distance to his sister's house and she took the keys off him and returned them the following morning.

"His uncle indicated to the police that he didn't want the matter to go any further but by that time my client had made a full admission," said Mr Huggan.

"He had been badgering his uncle for the £90 he owed him and took the car out of frustration."
