A MAN who was arrested when his girlfriend was found dead in the bath at his home today told of his frantic attempts to revive her.

Stuart Jones, 49, had been seeing Accrington woman Carole Abraham for a week before she died suddenly while taking a bath at his home in Manchester Road, Haslingden. Mr Jones was initially arrested in connection with the death but has been released without charge and the death is no longer being treated as suspicious.

He said Carole, 48, who lived in Peel Park Avenue, Accrington, was a "wonderful woman".

He added: "We just clicked. We met on a blind date, she was my sister's best friend, and we got on straight away. Carole was a caring person and it was wonderful to have known her for even a short time."

Mr Jones, an electrical engineer for P&S Textiles. Bury, said at first he thought Mrs Abraham had fallen asleep in the bath on Saturday, December 3.

He realised there was no pulse, attempted CPR and called an ambulance. She was taken to Fairfield Hospital, Bury where she was pronounced dead. Mrs Abraham's death comes just two months after the death of her husband Vic Abraham. They had been married to for 10 years. She leaves a 16-year-old son Wayne.

An inquest, opened in Burnley, was adjourned because results of further tests were needed before cause of death could be established.
