MORE THAN 2,000 people descended on Whalley to soak up the sights and sounds of a Victorian Christmas at the village's traditional Pickwick night festival.

The annual street fair took over the entire village, with streets closed until 9pm to make way for stalls selling mulled wine and mince pies and a fun fair on the car park.

A carol concert on the main stage at 6pm opened the evening's entertainment, followed by a special welcome by pub queen, Margo Grimshaw. One visitor, Kerry Cerami, of Ribchester Road, Wilpshire, had dressed her 10-year-old son Harrison in 19th century clothes for the occasion.
