Christopher Millar, 23, of Woodvale, was made subject to a curfew order and fined £100 by Blackburn magistrates after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance.
The court heard that Millar was stopped at 1.40 am in a Ford Escort on Grime Street.
Daniel King, defending, said Millar and two friends were due to start a business in January specialising in motorcycle mechanics. He and his friends had been working on the Escort and had only finished in the early hours.
Mr King said: "He literally drove the vehicle to the end of the street and back when he was stopped."
