NELSON is set to turn continental in the run up to Christmas.

The town is set to host a French market on December 10 when there will be 21 stalls offering everything from French meats, cheeses and crepes to table cloths, watches and leather bags.

Coun David Whipp, executive member for resources, said: "Our previous French and continental markets have been a huge success.

"In the middle of winter people will be able to sample some of the most fantastic French produce without even needing their passport.

"The markets are bound to be a hit with local folk."

He added: "And I'm sure that this event will attract people from far and wide to come and visit."
