BURSCOUGH midfielder Liam Blakeman says drawing Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup was like actually winning the tournament.

And it's made the former Blackburn Rovers man and his team-mates even more determined to beat Burton Albion tonight as they attempt to play their second round tie at the Pirelli Stadium at the second time of asking after Saturday's orginal fixture was washed out.

Burscough, currently lying fourth in the UniBond Premier Division, conquered League One side Gillingham 3-2 in the first round after David Rowan's late winner shot the Linnets into the second round.

And Blakeman says that they are even more determined to beat Nigel Clough's men tonight - especially as the United game could be played at Anfield, the home of his beloved Liverpool.

He said: "All the boys were together for the draw and we went mad when we got United. It was actually like winning the FA Cup!

"We were already determined to get into round three but now we have an extra incentive. Not just for us, but for the village of Burscough.

"I've heard that they are going to try to put the game on at our ground but if not they're going to try to play it at Anfield.

"That would be a dream come true. I would love to play against Manchester United, but to be able to play on Anfield would just be fantastic.

"I said in the past that it didn't matter if we lost at Burton because we'd already done better than we ever had expected but with the prospect of playing United it would be a real disappointment to go out now."
