DANNY Karbasiyoon has suffered another frustrating injury setback.

The summer signing from Arsenal had hoped to step up training this week following a visit to a specialist for treatment on his mysterious groin and hip injury.

However, an injection into the troubled area has failed to clear up the problem and Karbassiyoon must now have complete rest for between 10 days and two weeks in a further bid to get to the root of the problem.

It is yet another blow for the 21-year-old American, who is eager to kick-start his career at Turf Moor after signing a two-year deal this summer from Highbury.

The injury first flared up in pre-season training when he jarred his hip and groin, but eased towards the end of the Clarets' pre-season tour of Austria last month.

However, after resuming training that week, Karbassiyoon immediately broke down again ahead of the second and final game of the tour and has not yet featured in any of Burnley's three Championship games.

Meanwhile, Wade Elliott has turned to the oxygen tank in a bid to shake off his own

injury worries ahead of Saturday's trip to Watford.

The former Bournemouth winger twisted his ankle just 12 minutes into last weekend's thrilling 4-0 win over Coventry and had to be substituted.

And Elliott is now undergoing the same radical treatment that helped Michael Duff and Danny Coyne recover quickly from injuries last season.

He said: "I had an X-ray on saturday and there is nothing broken, so it's just a case of waiting for the swelling to come down. Going into the oxygen tank in Manchester earlier this week was a new experience for me and the theory is that it quickens the healing process and your recovery. It certainly feels a little better now, so hopefully it has had some effect.

"It's a bonus that there is no midweek game because that would have ben a no-go for me. You never know how quickly it's going to heal, so we'll have to see how it is later in the week."

Elsewhere, Coyne will tonight feature in goal for Wales in their friendly international against Slovenia at Swansea following an injury to young rival Lewis Price.

And Burnley Reserves kick off their Pontin's League campaign with a rearranged home clash against Carlisle United.

The Division One West game was originally scheduled to take place at Brunton Park.

However, it will now take place at the Clarets home base for this season, Accrington Stanley's Interlink Express Stadium, kicking off at 7pm.
