CLITHEROE captain Neil Bolton says there's still all to play for in the VEKA Ribblesdale Senior League despite defeat at the weekend.

Their loss to Baxenden and Settle's win against Barnoldswick - the only two games to be played in the league on Saturday - allowed the Dales side to take a four point lead with just six games remaining.

But Bolton says the the title race isn't over by a long chalk.

He said: "We've been in fantastic form until Saturday when it all went wrong.

"The pitch was pretty wet at the start and the Baxenden lads didn't really want to play. We were obviously keen to play because we got on after four o'clock but we didn't play very well.

"It was a 26-over thrash and that kind of cricket is a great leveller. With the kind of form we've been in I'd back us to beat anybody over 45 overs.

"They got 147 and with a bowling pro tying up one end they made it very difficult for us. We gave away a couple of silly wickets and ended up well short.

"At this stage, you have to make Settle favourites but you never know. We just have to make sure we get back to winning ways and hope Setttle slip up."

Both sides still have to play Read with Clitheroe finishing their campaign with a trip to bottom side Oswaldtwistle Immanuel, and Bolton admitted the Chatburn Road outfit can't afford to lose another game.

"We won 11 games on the bounce, which is a fantastic achievement," he added. "But anything can happen. We've got two double headers in consecutive weekends and you never know what could happen.

"The weather could play a part or an injury to one of their key players could let us in. You just never know what can happen.

"Our aim is to make sure that we can still win it when we come to play Ossy on the last day of the season. There's been a few strange results this season so anthing's possible.

"We've got Padiham on Saturday and it's important that we get all seven points. Their pro, Kashif Siddique, smashed us all over last season so we need to get him early on and if we do I'm confident we can get all the points."
