ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman is lining up a new striker after his shot-shy frontmen drew another blank at the weekend.

Stanley failed to score for the third consecutive pre-season friendly against Barrow on Saturday and have scored just twice in their five games so far.

But Coleman is looking for his side to start scoring, beginning tonight when they travel to face Arnold Town, but he admitted he was still looking for a striker and had a couple of irons in the fire.

He said: "I'm still looking for a striker and I've got a couple of players lined up but that's an on-going situation.

"But I'm hoping the boys we have can start scoring some goals.

"This is a very important season for the club and winning becomes a habit so we need to start winning games.

"The strikers we have have got a chance to impress to make sure they get a shirt come the start of the season."

Coleman will field one new face against the Nottingham side tonight as Danny Ventre, released by Chester City at the end of last season, gets a run out.

But the Stanley boss admitted he was very pleased to have goalkeeper Stuart Jones and Matt O'Neill on board for the new campaign.

He added: "I'm very pleased to have the goalkeepeing situation sorted out. That's a big relief for us.

"And I'm very happy that Matt (O'Neill) has joined us. He played for us last season so we know he's a very good signing for us."
