Aladdin, at King George's Hall, Blackburn.
THE pantomime production of Aladdin at King George's Hall, in Blackburn, has everything you could wish for - oh yes it does!
Traditional panto frolics, renditions of pop songs, fantastic effects, sumptuous lighting, a rib-ticklingly funny Wishee Washee and, for the dads, impressive female dancers.
All the ingredients combine for an enjoyable evening of fun that will keep all family members interested.
Comedian Phil Walker, son of Roy of Catchphrase fame, plays Wishee Washee with the traditional squeaky childishness.
But he also mixes in good-natured stand-up, which will bring spontaneous laughter to even the most reluctant audience member.
And his patter with the audience was excellent, especially when he got four children on stage and playfully mocked those Cornish 'Rs' in a boy's Blackburn accent.
That local touch was also apparent with jokes about Blackburn Rovers winning the FA Cup - "it is a fairy story after all" - and hell - "don't make me go to Burnley."
In short, Aladdin will get you smiling with that feel good Christmas spirit.
The show runs until January 11. Tickets cost £11 and £8, or £6.50 and £4.40, depending on the concessions. Call the box office on 01254 582582.
