Halton Farnworth 0 Golborne Parkside 10: WITH the first team game cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch Golborne Parkside's second team took centre stage with a 10-0 win at Halton Farnworth.

With the first team players giving their vocal support from the touchline, Golborne began the match in good style with powerful running from their forwards Carl Kelly, Chris Miller, Rob Dooley and Michael Prince giving Golborne the territorial advantage, but they lost hooker Neil Muir with a hamstring injury.

Golborne continued to press but could not dent a Farnworth defence. After 26 minutes Golborne finally cracked the Farnworth defence when Robert Dooley finished of a well worked try goaled by David Hindley a lead they held until the half time break.

The second half was the same as the first, with Golborne holding the territorial advantage but the Farnworth defence still standing firm. With seven minutes remaining, and after a period of sustained Golborne pressure, stand-off Kevin Coward raced over for an unconverted try and made the game safe.

Man of the match was prop Michael Prince who made some powerful breaks and big hits. Not far behind were Kevin Coward and Craig Timmins plus young full back Ryan Kelly.

St Pats U18s 4, Golborne 4

Despite missing three regular players, Golborne still had the edge. Golborne took the lead with a Stuart Goulding try only for St Pats to equalise in the last minute of the half.

Both defences were on top in the second period but Golborne nearly stole it when a drop goal attempt from Stuart Arkwright was pushed out by the strong wind. Golborne second row Mark Pilling was outstanding both in defence and attack.

Golborne U15s 6, Leigh Miners 8

Golborne, who are playing their first season in the premier division, almost pulled of a shock win over the league leaders. Golborne fell behind 2-0 to a penalty goal but midway through the half they took a shock 6-2 lead with a try from Andrew Seddon goaled by Andrew Bennett.

Miners threw everything at a resolute Golborne defence in which every player was a hero. However, midway through the second half Miners regained the lead 8-6 with a converted try after a slight lapse in the Golborne defence.
