A BLACKBURN woman has criticised a Lancashire hospital after her husband's treatment was cancelled following a six-hour wait.
Linda Hargreaves says Kevin, 56, was due to have injections in his head to combat severe migraines which can lead to paralysis - but the ordeal of waiting at Royal Preston Hospital led to one of the migraines.
Linda,54, said: "We are both very distressed about this. My husband is a chronically sick man who was sent home with no treatment after being sent from pillar to post.
"For two years we have tried to find out what is causing the migraines but we still don't know. This has been a complete and utter shambles."
Today Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust apologised for the cancellation on Wednesday, after the doctor was called away on an emergency, and said another appointment had been offered.
Linda, of Bower Close, says her husband is undergoing treatment for chronic heart problems and diabetes in addition to the migraines.
She added: "He had a lumbar puncture about three years ago but we have still not been given the full results.
"He was due to have another one on Wednesday along with steroid injections in the back of his head and we arrived soon after 8am for a 9am appointment."
But the couple were kept waiting until 2pm when they were told the doctor was at another hospital and would not be able to carry out the procedures."
A NHS trust spokesman said: "We apologise wholeheartedly to Mr and Mrs Hargreaves for any inconvenience and distress this has caused."
