BURNLEY Football Club is set to gain a few pounds.....thanks to a super celebrity shedding some of hers.

Amy Lam is one of the contestants fighting the flab on the hit TV show Celebrity Fit Club.

And the American-born star plans to boost the coffers of the Clarets by donating £15 to the club for every pound she loses.

The well known broadcaster and BBC writer began following Burnley after watching the Boxing Day game with Wolverhampton Wanderers last season and has kept a keen eye on things at Turf Moor ever since.

She is currently appearing on the ITV show in a bid to improve her fitness and shed a few pounds and to help her reach her target, she has decided to donate money to the Club whenever she loses a pound and is hoping other supporters will follow her lead.

Alongside the likes of Vanessa Feltz, Freddie Starr, Lowri Turner, James Whitaker and Jono Coleman, Amy undergoes the rigorous exercise and events set by the infamous Harvey Walden in a bid to knock the weight off.

Speaking about her pledge, Amy, 33, who lives in London, said: "My partner is from Baxenden and I went to watch a Burnley match when they played against Wolves.

"It was just amazing. It was the first time I had been to a football match and I was totally converted.

"I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere at Turf Moor. It was nothing like I expected. The fans were completely passionate and to be part of that was overwhelming."

Amy, who regularly receives emails and text messages keeping her updated about the club's fortunes, added: "I wanted to raise money for a charity while I was doing Celebrity Fit Club and when I looked on Burnley's website and I saw a story about a guy who was cycling 500 miles to raise money for the club and that inspired me.

"I hope to be able to raise around £500.

"I know it is not a vast amount of money but if everyone does a little bit then it will all add up and we can only make the situation better."

So far, Amy has lost 16 pounds.

The show, Celebrity Fit Club, is on ITV1 every Tuesday evening at 8pm.
