IN reply to Derek Jackson (LET, February 7) I take exception to his comments about the Fernhurst traffic lights.

I am a resident on this prestigious development (not estate), and I work at Queens Park Hospital every day including weekends, and therefore have to exit to the right to go via Branch Road. This journey takes 12 minutes each day, except in extreme weather conditions, when I have to set off earlier because although we are in a high tax band we are not afforded the luxury of gritters.

On match days however when the lights are switched off, I have to allow an extra 10 minutes at least for the journey as the selfish Darwen side motorists do not want to give an inch and let people on to the main road, especially those turning right.

Perhaps you would also like to get rid of the lollipop lady a little further down and let the school children wait forever, too.

So Mr "I'm all right Jack-"son, perhaps you could find an alternative route to Blackburn, or, better still, keep your car and yourself in Darwen.

There are hundreds of cars on this development not just one or two as mentioned and we all pay road tax, I'm sure.

A M MILLER (Mrs), Garner Avenue, Blackburn.
