A POLICEMAN who stopped the driver of a car parked in Accrington Road, Whalley, became suspicious when the occupant began to sweat profusely, a court was told.

And his suspicions proved to be well founded as a search of the car uncovered an air rifle, 25 ecstasy tablets and a bag of amphetamine.

A subsequent check showed that the driver, Max Canham Dye, was disqualified and a search of his home uncovered a quantity of cannabis.

Dye, 35, of Wasdale Avenue, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possession of all three drugs, driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was ordered to do 100 hours community punishment and made subject to a community rehabilitation order for 18 months.

When he was interviewed by police Dye said all the drugs were for his own personal use and that he had a "very bad" drug habit.

Ian Holland, defending, said Dye had been well over 30 before he had come to the adverse attention of the police.

He said Dye's long-term partner had walked out leaving him with massive debts.
