ACCRINGTON Stanley star Jonathan Smith, will officially open Fairfield Neighbourhood Nursery, Accrington, today
The nursery, on Fairfield Street, is an extension to Fairfield Nursery school and from Monday it will be open to children and babies from 0-5 years, providing 30 extra full day care places.
The open day will include representatives from Job Centre Plus, Accrington and Rossendale college and Sure Start Hyndburn.
The nursery is part of the government's initiative to give every child a 'sure start' in life by creating up to 900,000 childcare places for 1.6 million children by 2004. 45,000 of these places are in the most disadvantaged areas of the country.
Head teacher, Liz Klavins said: "We are very excited about the nursery, which has been designed with the needs of local children in mind."
