IT'S rather odd that a party from Preston with a candidate from Lancaster should contest a Heysham seat on the city council - where they don't know or understand the people, area or culture.

Obviously, they have no affinity with the area other than their desire to stir people up with their extreme right wing vitriol (yes, I have seen thee leaflet).

They do appear to be a confused outfit, though. Their helpers turn up in Japanese cars, they distribute leaflets bearing a French symbol and worship an Austrian by the name of Adolf Hitler. But they don't like foreigners.

In addition, they want Scottish, Welsh and Irish people to be sent home - only after they have voted for them, presumably.

According to the party's website, their motto is 'No-one likes us but we don't care'. I imagine it is difficult to like a fascist.

Speaking to older people in Heysham who fought against Hitler, they are dismayed that his disciples are fighting an election here.

I do not like using a nom-de-plume, but having seen the extreme right wing at close quarters I would not wish them to know where I live.

Concerned, Morecambe (name and address supplied).
