WHEN you have the Lions in your sights, it's good to know there's a big game hunter in the camp.

And in Ian Moore, Burnley have the FA Cup equivalent of the king of the jungle.

The Clarets striker has hit the target 10 times in just 12 cup games since arriving at Turf Moor.

Now Moore is praying that lucky 13 is right around the corner to take the bookies to the cleaners and the Clarets into the hat for the quarter finals.

He said: "A lot of my friends have jumped on the bandwagon and won quite a lot of money on me in the cup, so I think there will be quite a few bob waged on me again tomorrow.

"I used to bet on myself when I was younger, and I generally seem to get the first goal in games.

"So I suppose the time has come to have another £20 bet on myself - I must be worth a gamble!"

Moore, whose goals against Mansfield and Gillingham in previous rounds have nudged him closer to a best ever annual total of 14, added: "The FA Cup has been especially good for me and I just don't know why.

"I've got 10 goals in 12 games in the cup and it just seems to have been a good tournament for me where everything has clicked into place.

"I just seem to have been in the right place at the right time. The hat trick against Canvey Island a few years ago has probably helped me, but I've followed that up with more goals and it's obviously a favourite competition of mine now."

The secret to beating Millwall might well be in the genes. Father Ronnie set the benchmark in his striking heyday, with six goals in five games sending an icy blast down Cold Blow Lane.

Now the New Den is set to become the battleground for a family at war as Ian goes gunning for dad's title in tomorrow's fifth round tie.

The Clarets hitman explained: "I've been on the phone to dad and we've both talked about Millwall being a bit of a lucky charm.

"He bragged that he still has a better record against them than me, but I tell him that's when defenders were slower.

"Still, I'll have to try to change that, and the way things have gone against them I feel I have every chance.

"I remember scoring against Millwall on my league debut, lobbing Kasey Keller from around 25 yards.

"Ever since then I've enjoyed playing against them, although I'm sure I won't even think about that when the ball is moving.

Moore Jnr feels sure that Burnley's memorable FA Cup run from last year can help when it comes to securing a quarter final place for the second successive year.

A crushing defeat at Watford brought the Clarets season crashing to the ground when a semi-final place was well within their grasp.

And Moore feels sure Stan Ternent's men will not make the same mistake by under-performing in South London.

He insisted: "Millwall will be tough opponents, and they are above us in the league at the moment.

"But you see the bottom teams beating the top teams all the time and that's the sort of league the First Division is.

"We are just as good, if not better than they are, so there's no reason we can't win.

"I think we have all learned from last year. It was an enjoyable experience for all the players and the atmosphere at the quarter final was unbelievable.

"I would just love to go one or two steps further and hopefully it will happen this season. There's no reason why a First Division team cannot make the semi-finals at least.

"Many of the Premiership sides are playing each other and last season we saw what happened, so with a good performance, and then a little bit of luck in the draw, we could get there."
