STAN Ternent has warned Burnley they are playing for pound notes and pride at Millwall tomorrow.

The Clarets chief is well aware that victory over the Lions would net the club a guaranteed £415,000 in TV and prize money - a lifeline in the ongoing financial crisis.

However, Ternent the manager is also desperate for another crack at the FA cup quarter-finals following last season's heartache at Watford.

Ternent said: "We have been playing well lately and we are capable of beating Millwall, just as they are capable of beating us.

"It will all be on the day because you only get one chance to perform well, but it's a big match and we could do with getting through for a few reasons.

"The only thing that's missing tomorrow is the television, but if we win then we guarantee that, so there's a big prize at the end of it all.

"That's the bottom line, so everyone is keeping their fingers crossed. However, as a manager you just want to make progress and go as far as you can.

"You can talk about Cardiff - and who wouldn't want to get to an FA Cup Final?"

Ternent added: "There's something magical about the cup. It's still a fantastic competition that gives everyone a lift. The atmosphere of the games is different and it's perhaps hard to put your finger on it.

"But we got to the last eight last year and the last 16 this year, so we have a good chance."

All Ternent's planning this week has been with Millwall in mind, since he expected the Lions to overcome the challenge of Conference minnows Telford.

And with a full squad at his disposal, other than calf victim Graham Branch, he is confident his underdogs can keep the magic of the cup alive at the New Den.

Ternent added: "The lads are in good spirits. We haven't had a lot of time to prepare, but I think it's fair to say Millwall went into the Telford game as favourites and I anticipated they would win it.

"Now there's a quarter-final at stake and, only last year, there were two semi-finalists from the First Division.

"Sheffield United gave a good account for themselves and only a great save from David Seamen denied them. Then, of course, Watford made it too.

"I wouldn't want to be tempting fate, but I wouldn't say no if it was Burnley this year."

Meanwhile tickets for tomorrow's game went on general sale at the Turf Moor ticket office this morning.

Fans are reminded that they must buy a ticket in advance, as there will be no cash turnstiles on the day for visiting fans at the New Den.

The ticket office will remain open until 7.30pm this evening, or until the Clarets 2,000 allocation has been snapped up.
