A SCHOOL in Hindley Green was closed on Friday after its roof was set alight.
Fire crews were called to St John's Junior School, Atherton Road, at 7pm after reports that the roof was on fire.
Four fire engines attended and two area platforms were needed to deal with the fire, which destroyed 50 per cent of the roof.
Fire crews were at the scene to make the area safe.
