RAIL user groups and passenger committees have met with bosses of Arriva Trains Northern to learn about changes at the company.

The six-monthly stakeholder conference is part of the firm's plan to keep passengers in touch with the rail operator, which runs trains throughout East Lancashire.

A company spokesman said: "The conference involved a wide range of stakeholders from across the region, including rail user groups and rail passenger committees.

"It provided an opportunity for Arriva Trains Northern to update interested parties on the company's progress while listening to their thoughts on services."

Arriva Trains Northern's managing director, Dyan Crowther spoke of the company's work to improve train performance, station facilities and customer service.

The stakeholder conferences, which are aimed primarily at organisations with an interest in the railways, are supplemented with smaller, more localised customer forums and well as regular mail updates
