AT last week's CRaCA meeting consideration was given to a request by a football team representing the Gordon Lennox to play at Mount Lane next season.

Reluctantly, the request had to be refused as the full-size pitch is already used to capacity by Burnley Grammar School Old Boys' FC and Kettledrum FC. CRaCA, however, have started procedures to obtain more land adjacent to the sportsfield to create another pitch. This would be available for use by other teams.

The condition of the changing rooms at Mount Lane was also discussed by CRaCA members, and a replacement of the existing facilties was regarded as urgent. Approved plans for a new building incorporating sports and leisure use were shown.

BURNLEY FC Girls' have approached CRaCA regarding use of the small pitch at Mount Lane by their seven-a-side teams for under 10s and under 12s next season.

A representative of the club has been invited to the next meeting to discuss this proposal.

THE annual Brains of Cliviger quiz will be held on Fridays, February 27 and March 5, starting at 7.15pm. Teams comprise three members. Anyone interested in entering a team should contact Mrs E Berry on 451343 as soon as possible.

THE county council have informed the parish council that, as from April 1, highway maintenance on the A646 will revert to them from the Highways Agency.

THE February meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Friday at the Village Hall, starting at 7pm. Among matters to be discussed are applications for work on trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders at 78 Park Road and at Dodbottom Wood in Station Road. There is also a proposal for alterations, repairs and an extension at Fir Trees Barn, Foxstones Lane.

ON Saturday, the Table Top Sale will be held at St John's, from 10am to 1pm.

Refreshments will be available.
