BURNLEY Football Club chiefs have warned the battle for survival goes on after narrowly avoiding the threat of administration.

The Clarets have raised the six-figure sum needed to remain in business until the summer, thanks to their FA Cup run and a number of hastily arranged fund-raising initiatives.

But after a £500,000 injection plugged the immediate cash void, chief executive Dave Edmundson urged supporters not to relax.

Edmundson said: "We have had a magnificent response to our appeal and that means we will remain in business in the short-term, which is what we all intended.

"We have achieved our first objective and now it's a question of ensuring we keep the momentum going and plan for a future because I'm absolutely convinced it is rosy."

An estimated £200,000 raised from the FA Cup, along with another six-figure sum generated by the '500 Miles Club', the gala dinner hosted by Alastair Campbell and other donations have all contributed to the cause.

And after missing out on a cup windfall following Saturday's defeat at Millwall, Edmundson vowed to redouble his efforts to reward loyal supporters and win back stay-away fans with an attractive season ticket package for next season.

He added: "The shortfall we had equated to the loss of season tickets, comes out around £600,000.

"But when we first announced the situation we were also losing £10,000 per match and that left us looking at £700,000.

"Since then we have had a cup run and brought some money in and the main thing is that positive things have come out of the bad.

"Losing in the cup means we cannot slacken.

"This money has only got us through to the end of this season and I am still looking for a good season ticket sales for next season."

Edmundson plans to announce details of the new season ticket package within a month.
