A musician from Chorley fulfilled a pipe dream when he performed in the nation’s best loved TV soap.

Bagpipe player, Alan Gagan, performed at the soap wedding of the year in Coronation Street earlier this month.

The 41-year-old, who lives in Weld Avenue in the town, played at the wedding of the characters Carla and Tony which was screened on Wednesday, December 3.

The photocopier engineer, said: “It was fantastic. I normally play at people’s weddings but this is the first showbiz wedding I have ever done.

“I was quite surprised when I received the call from Granada and it took two days to film and it was quite strange seeing myself on the screen.

"My family were very proud.”

Alan started playing pipes at the age of seven and was competing by the age of nine.

He has been a competition bagpiper in Chorley Pipe Band since the age of nine which has meant travelling the length and breadth of England and Scotland taking part in various contests, including all the major championships like the World Championship in Glasgow and the Dunoon Cowal Championship.
