A driver was stopped by police after being caught snacking on cheese triangles.

Thames Valley Police officers PC Dollery and Bowers carried out a stop check on the Mercedes in Iver on Monday evening (April 29).

They said there was a "strange smell coming from the vehicle" but on this occasion "the smell was cheese not cannabis."

Police said the man went for an evening drive whilst snacking on cheese triangles.

They jokingly said his documents "weren't very gouda" as he was driving without a license or insurance.

The Mercedes was seized by police and the driver was reported to the courts for offences.

Police said the driver was stopped for the same issue 12 months ago.

And just to bust some myths, whilst it's not illegal to eat and drive police could prosecute you if they feel you're distracted while snacking behind the wheel.

The offence of careless driving carries an on-the-spot fine of £100 and three penalty points.
