Parts of Burnley were gridlocked on Monday morning due to a crash.

The incident, just off junction 10 on Calvary Way, caused huge tailbacks. Drivers faced delays of more than an hour as they attempted to navigate around the incident.

There were queues up to junction 8 of the M65 for Hapton, with drivers heading into Simonstone affected by the delays.

Roadworks on Rossendale Road did not help, causing further misery for drivers.
Police said the incident on Calvary Way was not serious and traffic returned to normal levels at around 11am.

In Colne, emergency services were called to a crash on Skipton Road, Oak Street and the junction of Regent Avenue.

A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.44am this morning to reports of a road traffic collision on Skipton Road in Colne. Two cars and two vans were involved.”
