Bradford Park Avenue lost 1- 2 to Worksop Town in the Northern Premier League.

Avenue’s only goal of the game came from Edy Maeico who has scored his first of the season since joining the squad in December.

The first chance came after only four minutes for Worksop.

Will Lancaster had a slip up in midfield which allowed Terry Hawkridge to go one on one with the goal however Kieran Flavell was not tested as it went wide.

A minute later, Vaughan Redford went close with a header across the goal however it bounced wide.

Three minutes later, Avenue had their first chance of the game when Adrian Thibaut tried to move down the right-hand side, however his shot was blocked.

Ten minutes later, Avenue were back under pressure as the visitors kept coming and one was surely going to be converted into their first goal.

With 15 minutes of the game gone, Worksop were continuing their chances when Aleks won the ball high up the pitch and linked up with Jay Rollins, but his effort failed to land on target.

With 20 minutes of the game gone, Josh Wilde was able to secure Worksop their first goal just minutes after Kieran Flavell denied Liam Hughes the opportunity to do the same thing.

Minutes later, Worksop continued to put the pressure on the hosts by long throws which nearly created a chance but ultimately caused Kieran Flavell no problems.

Hazam Bencherif showed his athleticism just after half time as he attempted a bicycle kick as a corner pin-wheeled around the box.

Avenue had a dangerous free kick in the 38th minute. However, it was quickly collected by the Tigers keeper causing no problems.

Liam Hughes had a shot a couple of minutes before the half time whistle; however, it is deflected for a corner.

With one minute of added time, Josh Wilde was able to secure Worksop’s second and last goal of the game. They went into the break believing they had all three points - and they did.

In the remainder of the seven minutes of added time, Bradford were awarded three yellow cards. Edy Maeico picked up his second of the season, Lucas Odunston received his ninth of the season and Adrain Thibaut gained his first of the season.

Bradford’s only goal of the game came from Maeico in the 55th minute of the game after looking promising with a couple of other chances beforehand which were lifted over the bar due to the wind.

With over an hour of the game gone, Kieran Flavell made another brilliant save to deny Worksop another goal which came from the boot of Aleks Starcenko.

The pressure for Avenue still wasn’t over as in the 77th minute, Vaughan Redford hit a defender when shooting which resulted in it slipping outside the post.

After losing three vital points, Avenue still sit in the relegation zone, two points behind Basford United, who they were level on points with a week ago.

Next week, Avenue are away to Ilkeston Town.

In the reverse fixture Avenue won 4- 1 with goals from Mason O’Malley, Will Longbottom, Jamie Spencer. They will be hoping to gain three points again in their fight against relegation.
