A road in Haslingden is set to be closed for four days this month.

Grane Road will be fully closed, from Monday, March 25 to Thursday, March 28.

This is due to repair defects to the surface in preparation for surface dressing work, which is due to be scheduled during the summer.

This week, the council has started work to investigate and make repairs to drainage issues at around 15 locations along Grane Road. More work is set to continue afterwards to maintain the road surface.

Drainage work will move along the road and two-way traffic signals will be in place for safety. The traffic signals will be manned at peak times to minimise disruption as far as possible, until Friday, April 19.

All of this work will protect the surface from water damage and help to prevent potholes from appearing in future.

A spokesperson for Lancashire County Council said: "This week we've begun work to investigate and make repairs to drainage issues at around 15 locations along Grane Road, which will be followed by further work to maintain the road surface.

"The drainage work will move along the road, with two-way traffic signals in place for safety, manned at peak times to minimise disruption as far as possible, until Friday 19 April.

"From Monday, March 25 to Thursday, March 28, Grane Road is due to be fully closed for work to repair defects to the surface in preparation for surface dressing work, which is due to be scheduled during the summer. This package of work will protect the surface from water damage, and help to prevent potholes appearing in future.

"We'll be doing all we reasonably can to minimise disruption while carrying out these vital improvements, and are grateful to people for their patience while the work is ongoing."
