Major renovation work was underway at Blackburn’s Classic Cinema in 1976 when this photograph was taken.

The cinema, on King William Street, which would later become the Apollo Cinema, was housed in the former Cotton Exchange building.

It's a fascinating photo which gives you a glimpse of some of the original features including what appears to be a balcony area.

The original windows - which are still part of the building today - had been covered over to block out the light. There are now exciting plans to develop the Grade II listed Exchange into a performance and exhibition space.
